books: Share and Share Alike

I’m all for supporting writers by buying books. But being a struggling writer has put me in an ironic predicament: I simply cannot afford to spend $15 on a new toy.

This is when a used bookstore is very handy. Unfortunately, Las Vegas is not a city that supports them. (If you know of any, PLEASE let me know.)  So, I’ve taken to borrowing books from my friends. It’s fun, free and very environmentally friendly. The only trouble is that you have to be diligent in returning those books to friends. I promise to be good!

  1. I buy all my books at garage sales. I usually never pay more than a dollar.

  2. That’s a good idea. Unfortunately, Vegas garage sales are big on the sequins and feathers but small on the literature.

  3. There are at least three used bookstores / book exchanges within one mile of my house. I’d be happy to tell you all about ’em over dinner. ;)

And actually, garage sales here are the same as everywhere else — just depends on what you’re looking for.

  4. Gee, Pj, do you have to ruin the magic of Las Vegas for the rest of the world? Just kidding. I would LOVE to both have dinner and learn about local bookstores. Thanks for always being awesome!

  5. The magic of Las Vegas lives in all of our hearts.
